Cotton Delight Tea Towel and Dish Cloth

I’m such a fan of the smaller holidays! Especially National Pizza day and of course National Tea Day. Like I need an excuse!
I’m just joking with you, of course I don’t celebrate these things but now a days there is a day for everything and life is way too short so why not!!
With the 14th Jan being National Organise Your home Day, Knitshop.co.uk and I thought it would be a great time to share a new free pattern with you.

If you want to whip something up for this holiday that’s practical, eco friendly and 100% cotton, why not try the Cotton Delight Tea Towel and Dish Cloth set?

Materials

5 mm hook

4 balls of Cotton Delight from Knitshop. 

This project is worked using two strands of yarn together. I chose the colours BlueBell Light Blue (2 x 100g balls) and Silver (2 x 100g balls)

Measurements

Width x Height

Tea Towel – 45 x 58 cm 

Dish Cloth – 19 x 17 cm

Abbreviations

This pattern is written in US terminology

Ch – Chain

Sc – Single Crochet

Dc – Double Crochet

Rep – Repeat 

Notes

This project is worked using two strands of yarn together at once. The entire project is worked this way.

This project uses the Suzette stitch. To work the suzette stitch you make a single crochet then a double crochet in the same stitch, skip a chain or stitch and repeat.

Pattern

Tea Towel – 

Ch 64

Row 1: In the second ch from the hook work the suzette stitch ( single crochet then a double crochet in the same space), skip a ch and rep all the way to the end until you have two ch’s left. Skip the first ch as normal and make a sc in the last ch. Ch 1 and turn your work.

Row 2: In the very first stitch (under your ch 1) create a suzette stitch, skip a stitch and work the suzette stitch all the way to the end as before until you have 2 stitches left. Skip the first ch as normal and make a sc in the last ch. Ch 1 and turn your work.

Row 3 – 73: As row 2.

Dish Cloth – 

(Worked in the same way as the Tea Towel)

Ch 28

Row 1: In the second ch from the hook work the suzette stitch ( single crochet then a double crochet in the same space), skip a ch and rep all the way to the end until you have two ch’s left. Skip the first ch as normal and make a sc in the last ch. Ch 1 and turn your work.

Row 2: In the very first stitch (under your ch 1) create a suzette stitch, skip a stitch and work the suzette stitch all the way to the end as before until you have 2 stitches left. Skip the first ch as normal and make a sc in the last ch. Ch 1 and turn your work.

Row 3 – 20: As row 2.

Fasten off and sew in your ends 🙂
