Crochet 101: Crochet Conversion Chart

If you’ve ever looked at a crochet pattern you’ve probably seen it mention ‘crochet terms’ either written in UK or US. These can be so confusing when your starting out and really off putting when you just want to crochet but can’t understand why it isn’t turning out how it’s supposed to!

When I started crocheting I learnt following American crochet superstars. I wasn’t clued up to the different terms, meaning I now crochet in US terms.

It doesn’t matter if you choose to crochet in UK or US terms, we all find our feet eventually but in case it’s all a bit overwhelming for you I’ve put together a little chart to help you along your way.

If you decide that UK terms are your thing but you’re dying to make something written in US terms then this handy chart is the thing to use. The way you stitch doesn’t change; just the name, so find the stitch term above that you wish to convert and compare it to the opposite side of chart for the correct term, simples.

Enjoy your cuppa,

Hev xoxo
